The SSNSC Nature Adventures Summer Day Camp offers
exciting opportunities for children ages 3-14 to learn about the
natural world.
We are proud of the quality programs that we provide, and feel that
our camp is an excellent value.

Note: Changes for pricing of Sessions 1, 2, 5,
6. Raccoons, Iguanas, Bluejays, Bobcats, and Bears who
sign up for both Sessions 1&2, or both Sessions 5&6, will be charged
the tuition for a 2-week session, not two 1-week sessions. If
they only sign up for one session or two non-consecutive sessions
they will be charged the 1-week tuition. If you have
already signed your child up for any of these sessions, these
changes will be noted on your confirmation form. Please
contact the camp office with any questions.

Tadpoles - Full

Our youngest campers are
introduced to the wonders of the natural world through
stories, crafts, games and hikes. Tadpoles use their senses
to find smelly plants, colorful insects, and singing birds.

Chipmunks - Full
For ages 4 and 5
Monday, Wednesday, and Friday

These curious campers
explore fields, forests, and ponds to find animals and their
homes. Games, crafts, stories, and outdoor activities
fill a Chipmunk's day.

Raccoons - Full
For children entering Kindergarten

Raccoons learn more about
the world around them by hiking in the woods and searching
for critters in the pond. Campers participate in many
hands-on activities, games, and crafts.

Bluejays
- Full
For children entering 1st
& 2nd Grades
Bluejays investigate
animal habitats from forest to field to wetland.
They'll play games, make crafts, and take field trips to
enhance their camp experience. |

Bobcats
For children entering 3rd
& 4th Grade
Bobcats are ready for
adventure with more challenging hikes, crafts, games,
canoeing, field trips, science experiments, and lots of
other fun activities. |
Bears
For children entering 4th,
5th, & 6th Grades
Bears use exploration and
imagination to learn about the natural world. They
work together and have fun as they canoe, make crafts, take
field trips, and do experiments.

Bobcat & Bear
Overnights: Fridays July 18th, August 1st, and August 8th
Bobcats &
Bears from any session are invited to spend an overnight at
the Science Center. The $50 fee includes snack,
breakfast, and nature activities, which may include
stargazing, morning and/or night hikes, crafts, and games.
Campers arrive at 7:00pm Friday and leave at 9:00am
Saturday. Equipment is provided except personal gear,
e.g. sleeping bags, toiletries, etc. Minimum
registration is required for each overnight. |
The Explorer Series
For
children entering 6th - 8th grade

New friends and
adventure highlight this program for middle school aged
campers. Each one-week session includes hiking,
canoeing, teambuilding, a field trip and an overnight
camping trip. Most equipment is provided, except
personal gear, e.g. sleeping bags, backpacks, etc.

This fun-filed week of
exploration begins with two days of nature studies,
canoeing, and team-building at the Science Center leading up
to a three day Cape Cod Expedition. While on the The
Cape, campers will bike to tide pools, saltwater marshes,
and beaches for fieldwork and swimming. Nights will be
spent at a campground, where campers will enjoy games,
stories, and friends. Most equipment is provided
except personal gear, e.g. sleeping bags, backpacks, bikes,
etc.

How are campers assigned to groups?
Preschoolers must be the age specified on the first day of the
selected camp session. Older campers are assigned by the grade
levels they will be entering in September 2008.
There will be no exceptions.
May my child attend with a friend?
Yes, provided that the children would be in the
same group as specified above and there is space available.
Do you provide meals?
No, but water is available throughout the day and
treats may be occasionally offered.
All campers should bring a snack
and those staying for lunch should bring their lunch in an
appropriate container. If you would like to send a special
treat for your child's whole camp group to share at snack time,
please ask the camp director first in case of allergies or special
dietary needs.
What should my child bring to camp?
Campers should bring a refillable water bottle and
snack/lunch. They may also bring a backpack with a change of shoes
and clothes (especially on ponding or canoeing day). Since
campers will be having fun outside most of the day be sure your
child is dressed the weather. Be sure to label everything.
Please no electronics or valuables. Sunscreen and insect repellant
should be applied prior to drop-off. Epi-pens and inhalers
should be given to your child's counselor on the first day of camp
and the counselor will carry it in his/her first aid kit throughout
the week. Please speak with the camp director if you have any
questions or concerns.
Our Senior
Counselors are college educated men and women who have experience
working with children. Each has attended on-site training, has been certified in First Aid and
Community CPR, and undergo a CORI & SORI check. All share a genuine enthusiasm for children and
nature. We maintain a ratio of one Counselor to
every 5 campers under the age of seven, in
accordance with MA state law. For campers age seven and up, we
exceed the state requirements (1:10) by maintaining a ration of 1
counselor for every 6 campers. Each group of campers is led by
a Senior Counselor who is a college graduate or student, and a
Junior Counselor who must be at least fifteen years old.

An extended day program is available from 8 - 9 am, noon - 1 pm, or
4 - 5 pm at an additional charge of $5 per
hour. Extended day requests must be made at the time of
registration.
Members only registration will be held from Jan.
28-Mar. 15. You must hold a current family membership at
the time of registration and during the selected camp session to get the member discount. You can renew
or join at the time of registration. Registrations are accepted by
mail, fax, and in person during regular business hours. Non-member
registration will being March 17. A child is not considered
registered until you receive written confirmation fro the camp
office.
There is a
non-refundable $75 registration fee for
EACH session. The fee is included in the total cost of camp tuition.
Full payment is due by
May 1, 2008. All Forms are due by June 2, 2008.
Reserved spaces will not be held for campers with unpaid balances,
expired memberships, or overdue forms.
State law requires that campers submit a copy of a physical
examination performed by a licensed physician, accompanied by a
current immunization record. Campers' files must contain the
registration form, signed copies of current health forms, releases,
emergency information, and tuition in order to attend camp. If
minimum registration is not met, two camper groups may be combined.
Camp groups may be combined if minimum
registration is not met.
Cancellations
and Refund Policy
Cancellations received in writing
at least two weeks prior to a
session will receive a refund for tuition paid, minus the $75
registration fee and a $10 handling fee. A full program credit (less
fees) valid for one year from the date of issue will be given for
cancellations received between 2 weeks and 72 hours before the start of the
session. Registrants who do not give advance notice of cancellations
within the aforementioned guidelines will forfeit all monies paid.
There are no rebates for incomplete attendance.
Camperships
We offer a limited amount of campership
funds for families who qualify. To apply please check the box on the
registration form to request a financial aid application or pick up
an application at the Science Center. The application deadline
in May 1, 2008.
If you would like to donate to the
scholarship fund, you can do so with your camp payment; just
indicate the amount of your tax-deductible donation in the payment
section of the registration form. You also can donate using our
donation form. If each family gives just $5, we can provide a
fulfilling camp experience for 5 children who otherwise couldn't
attend. Please be generous.
Space is limited and pre-registration is required for all programs.
