Education Programs Manager (24
hours per week)
SSNSC seeks an experienced educator with creative vision to provide
leadership in the development and implementation of the Science Center’s
content rich environmental and natural science programs for schools,
children, families, and adults. This position is a key member of the
strategic plan and serves as representative to the local and state
educational community, promoting collaborative efforts to strengthen
program delivery. The Education Programs Manager is responsible for the
development and oversight of the department budget. The candidate should
be articulate, energetic, and well organized with a demonstrated record
of teaching informal / formal science programs. Teaching may be
required.
Qualifications: Applicant should have a masters degree in natural or
environmental science, strong working knowledge of the state curriculum
guidelines, and experience developing science
programs for the elementary and middle school student. Must possess
excellent interpersonal communication skills, strong command of digital
technology, and experience leading an innovative and experienced staff
of naturalists.
Programming Coordinator (P/T
flexible hours)
SSNSC seeks a highly organized individual to manage the master schedule
of programs and oversee the scheduling of Science Center environmental
and natural science programs, including teacher workshops to schools and
organizations. Serves as the contact person for scheduling and on-site
and outreach natural science programs and presentations. Hours are
flexible.
This position will coordinate with the Education Department and Public
Relations Director to promote SSNSC natural science education and public
programs through email communications and mailings to area schools,
senior centers, civic groups and organizations.
Qualifications: Applicant should have bachelors degree, knowledge of
state curriculum guidelines a plus, experience in informal or formal
elementary education preferred. This position requires excellent command
of digital technology.
Volunteer Coordinator - Part Time
(10-12 hours per week)
Science Center volunteers come from many sources and
interests: from high school students completing community service hours
to retired teachers leading programs to moms helping at special events
and anyone who loves nature, life-long learning, and people!
We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced
part-time Volunteer Coordinator for 10-12 hours per week. This person is
responsible for maintaining long-term and special event volunteer and
docent involvement as well as strengthening the Science Center's
broad-base of community support. Responsibilities include: volunteer
recruitment and orientation, ongoing training, supervision and
recognition, and scheduling volunteers for department needs, visitor
services receptionists, and special events.
The Volunteer Coordinator works closely with the
Executive Director, Science Center staff, Board of Directors, and all
volunteers.
Preferred Skills: Must enjoy working with people and
be highly organized, detail oriented, creative, and energetic. Excellent
interpersonal, communication skills. Computer proficiency is required.
Per Diem Naturalist
The Education Department is looking for per diem
Naturalists to teach our environmental education programs on an
as-needed basis. Training will be provided.
